Introducing TTB CircularIT

TTB CircularIT launches as Tech‑Takeback evolves to meet the growing demand for secure, circular IT services

3/14/2023

Tech‑Takeback has announced the next chapter in its evolution with the launch of TTB CircularIT, a specialist provider of secure, circular IT services for organisations across the South East.

The move marks a major step forward in expanding the impact, reach and professionalism of the organisation’s longstanding reuse‑first mission.

Building on almost a decade of innovation in responsible IT reuse, Tech‑Takeback has now evolved into two independent but closely aligned organisations:

  • TTB CircularIT — a commercial service delivering secure data erasure, circular IT processing, reuse‑first lifecycle management and impact reporting for businesses, councils and public sector partners.

  • TechTakeback Foundation — a new, independent charity focused exclusively on digital inclusion, providing devices, connectivity and digital skills support to people who need it most.

This evolution ensures both organisations can scale their work effectively while staying true to their shared values of security, circularity, simplicity and inclusion.

A positive step forward for customers, partners and communities

“This is an exciting moment for our team and for the organisations we support,”
said Dr David Greenfield, Managing Director at TTB CircularIT.
As demand for secure, responsible IT disposal continues to grow, we recognised the need for a dedicated, professional service that puts certified data protection and circular IT at its core — while still enabling the community impact we’re known for.”

The creation of TTB CircularIT means businesses and councils will continue to have access to a service that is:

  • Fully certified — including NCS recognised data erasure standards

  • Reuse‑first — maximising value and extending device lifecycles

  • Simple and SME‑friendly — clear pricing, straightforward processes

  • Transparent — with carbon, materials and social impact reporting

At the same time, the TechTakeback Foundation will expand its work providing refurbished laptops, connectivity support and digital skills to residents facing digital exclusion.

A clear, future‑ready operating model

Under the new structure:

  • TTB CircularIT delivers all commercial services, including secure collections, data erasure, wipe & redeploy, Tech Amnesty events and responsible end‑of‑life processing.

  • TechTakeback Foundation receives a proportion of reusable devices and profits from CircularIT, ensuring that community benefit continues, but with separate governance, funding and charitable oversight.

  • Both organisations collaborate where appropriate, while maintaining clarity between commercial and charitable activities.

“This structure allows us to do more of what we’re good at,” Dr Greenfield added.
“It strengthens our commercial service and gives the new Foundation the independence it needs to grow its charitable mission. Our customers get professional, secure, circular IT services and, through Tech-Takeback Foundation, communities benefit from digital inclusion.”

What this means for partners

For existing partners, the message is simple:
all the services you rely on continue, now with increased capacity, clarity and capability.

  • Organisations can confidently build circular IT, Scope 3 reduction and ESG outcomes into procurement and tenders.

  • Councils can partner with TTB CircularIT for community Tech Amnesty events, secure doorstep collections and responsible tech reuse models.

  • Research institutions and innovators can collaborate with TTB Circular Solutions, the research arm contributing to national and international circular economy projects such as United Circles / SEEH4C.

A decade of impact — and a stronger future ahead

Tech‑Takeback began as a community project in 2016, running pop‑up tech reuse events across Brighton & Hove. Over the years it grew into a recognised leader in secure circular IT, delivering major public-sector partnerships and returning thousands of devices into circulation.

The evolution into TTB CircularIT and TechTakeback Foundation represents the next step in that journey — one that positions both organisations to scale environmental impact, expand digital inclusion and help build a more circular region.
