Tech-Takeback began in 2016 with a simple mission: reuse unwanted tech to protect the planet and support people.

What started as a single pop‑up experiment in Brighton quickly grew into a series of hugely popular events. In just over two years, we collected more than 10.5 tonnes of tech for secure data-erasure and reuse or recycling.

In November 2020, Tech-Takeback was officially launched in Brighton and Hove as a not-for-profit promoting tech reuse for digital inclusion. Over the next five years, we:

  • Collected 123,484 items, weighing 98 tonnes

  • Saved 1,925 tonnes CO2e through reuse and recycling

  • Supported more than 3,500 households and businesses to pass on unwanted tech

  • Data-sanitised 42,717 data-bearing items

  • Passed on 13,394 devices to schools, charities and individuals in need

  • Launched the first on-demand doorstep collection service for residential tech, in partnership with ZeroNet

  • Trialled a high-street shop for refurbished electricals

  • Helped shape the national conversation on reuse

  • Supported people facing digital exclusion

As demand for our services grew, it became clear that one organisation could not meet the needs of both:

  • a commercial circular‑IT service for SMEs, and

  • a growing digital‑inclusion mission for communities.

So, the organisation evolved.

Today, we are two aligned but independent entities:

1. TTB CircularIT

TTB CircularIT
A professional secure data erasure and circular‑IT service for SMEs, focused on compliance, reuse and responsible lifecycle services

TTB Circular Solutions
Our innovation and R&D arm, leading on repair research, social value measurement, and future circular‑economy modelling.

2. Tech‑Takeback Foundation

Tech-Takeback Foundation is a separate and independently run charity dedicated to digital inclusion, distributing devices and delivering community‑focused tech access programmes.

Together, we share the same roots: reuse, security, circularity and inclusion. But we work in distinct ways to maximise impact.

2026: Two organisations, same shared mission
